Girēns has written about 300 poems in Prussian Lithanian.

His most known poem „As Prussian Lithuanians we are born“ became a Prussian Lithuania hymn in 1879.

Leītawenikai mes asmai gimmus,

Leītawenikai mes turrim būt,

Stan teīsin gaūwamai engimmus,

Stan be ni turim dātun zūt.

 As Prussian Lithuanians we are born,

As Prussian Lithuanians we should be,

That honour we got since we were born

And we must not let it die.

En 1879 m. en Tilzei tāns gruntina „Literatūriskan pēran“, kawīdas pertreppenikai dīgi bēi waistāi zinānikai kāigi Kristiāns Bartis, Adalberts Beccenbergeris, Pilipps Fortunatows, Ēdwards Gizēwis, Geōrgs Nesselmans, Ljūdwiks Pasargis, Ēdwards Wolteris.

In 1879 in Tilzit he founded Literary society, its members were known scientists like Christian Bartsch, Adalbert Bezzenberger, Filipp Fortunatov, Eduard Karol Samuel Gisevius, Georg Nesselmann, Ludwig Passarge, Eduards Volters.
